1. In Greco-Roman arch., a pillow-shaped or cushion-shaped detail; especially, in an Ionic capital, the drooping curve which joins two volutes on the same side.
2. Padded or padlike; cushiony; pillowy: as, the pulvinar prominence of the brain.
3. A pillow or cushion; a medicated cushion.
4. The posterior inner part of the optic thalamus, forming a prominence on its upper surface. Also called posterior tubercle.
5. The cushion of fat filling up the non-articular part of the acetabulum.
