Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Scrabble word finder calculate points?

Each letter has a point value based on rarity: common letters like E, A, I score 1 point, while rare letters like Q and Z score 10 points. Our tool instantly calculates the base score for every word. Remember that board multipliers (Double/Triple Letter and Word squares) will affect your final score.

What Scrabble dictionary does this use?

By default we use SOWPODS, the international Scrabble dictionary that combines TWL (Tournament Word List used in North America) and the official UK Scrabble dictionary. You can switch to TWL-only in Advanced Filters for US tournament play.

Can I include letters already on the board?

Yes! Use the 'Board letters' field to add letters from the board you can build off of. This helps find longer words by combining your rack with existing plays.

How do I use blank tiles?

Enter ? for each blank tile. Blanks can represent any letter but score 0 points. For example, 'QU?T' will find QUIT, QUAT, and other matches where ? is any letter.

What's a Bingo in Scrabble?

A Bingo (or Bonus) is when you use all 7 tiles from your rack in one play, earning a 50-point bonus on top of your word score. Use the 'Must use all letters' toggle to find potential Bingos.
