Exponent

Noun

1. One who expounds, represents or advocates.
2. The number by which a value (called the base) is said to be raised to a power in exponentiation: for example, the 3 {\displaystyle 3} in 2 3 = 8 {\displaystyle 2^{3}=8} .
3. The degree to which the root of a radicand is found, for example, the 2 {\displaystyle 2} in r 2 = b {\displaystyle {\sqrt[{2}]{r}}=b} .
4. A phonological manifestation of a morphosyntactic property; in layman's terms, the expression of one or more grammatical properties by sound.
5. The part of a floating-point number that represents its exponent value.
