2. One who turns aside or causes to turn aside; a perverter.
3. One stationed for the purpose of turning game in some direction; a sewel (which see).
4. One who starts or balks at anything.
5. One who, or that which, blanches or whitens; esp., one who anneals and cleanses money; also, a chemical preparation for this purpose.
