1. In the armor of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, that part which covered the arm, superseding the vambrace, bracelet, rerebrace, etc.
2. A band of any material worn about the arm above the elbow.
3. Armor for the arm; -- generally used for the whole arm from the shoulder to the wrist, and consisting, in the 15th and 16th centuries, of many parts.
4. Alternative form of brassard.
